PIHLAJA AND FORSELL GET THE BEST OF TURKIYE WITH MIGHTY VICTORY

KAYSERI-ERCIYES (Turkiye) 15 March 2025 – The second round of the FIM Snowcross World Championship in Türkiye delivered some electric battles under difficult conditions. Melting snow made the Erciyes track even more challenging, making racing lvery technical and forcing riders to carefully time their moves.

The opening Final 1 saw Aki Pihlaja (Lynx) grab the holeshot, launching into the lead while Elias Ishoel (Ski-Doo) quickly settled into second. The melting track made passing extremely difficult, but Ishoel stayed close, waiting for the perfect opportunity. His patience paid off when a yellow flag incident occurred just after the finish jump. Using the moment to his advantage, Ishoel made slight contact with Pihlaja and managed to push into the lead after four laps. Once ahead, he controlled the pace and secured the victory.

In Final 2, Pihlaja responded with a commanding win, crossing the line ahead of Ishoel, who was unable to replicate his earlier move. Mille Andersson (Ski-Doo) secured a double podium finish, finishing third in both races. Martin Johansson (Ski-Doo) improved significantly in the second race, securing fourth. Robert Lunden (Ski-Doo) also delivered a strong performance, finishing fifth in both races.

With a 1-2 result across the two finals, Aki Pihlaja emerged as the overall winner while Elias Ishoel, finishing second overall keep the red plate in the championship standings. Mille Andersson’s consistency placed him third overall, keeping him in the hunt for the title.

WSNX ROUND

Saga Forsell

The WSNX class delivered equally intense racing. Saga Forsell (Polaris) took the holeshot in Final 1, leading from start to finish in a flawless performance. The race, however, saw a major incident when Vilma Jonsson (Ski-Doo) collided with Kelly Collier (Ski-Doo), causing both riders to lose a lap. Despite the setback, Jonsson fought back in Final 2, where she bounced back to take the win, securing second overall for the weekend.

Forsell finished second in Final 2, which was enough to earn her the overall victory, extending her lead in the championship standings. Tilde Karelius (Ski-Doo) secured a strong third-place finish in both races, ensuring a podium result for the weekend. Emma Laamanen (Lynx) finished fourth overall with a consistent performance across both finals.

With Aki Pihlaja (Lynx) reclaiming 1 important point this weekend in the championship to red plate Elias Ishoel (Ski-Doo) who has 115 points, the Finnish remains in close pursuit, just four points behind, keeping the title race wide open. Topi Rinne (Lynx) moves into third place, staying ahead of a determined Mille Andersson (Ski-Doo) and Martin Johansson (Ski-Doo), who continue to challenge the frontrunners.

In WSNX, Saga Forsell (Polaris) continues her dominant performance, extending her lead in the championship standings with 116 points, firmly holding onto the red plate. Wilma Jonsson (Ski-Doo) remains a strong contender in second place with 104 points, keeping the title fight alive. Tilde Karelius (Ski-Doo) holds steady in third with 89 points, while Emma Laamanen (Lynx) also with 89 points, remains a key challenger, ensuring the battle for the podium stays intense

As the FIM Snowcross World Championship moves forward, riders now shift their focus to the next and final round in Sweden, where the battle for the championship remains wide open, and every point will be crucial to lift the trophy in Fallfors on the 11-12 April.
